Just a quick message to say that our phone line has been cut off so me and thom_kat have no internet access at the moment. We'll try to convince our friends to let us use their facilities so we can keep up to date with other people's news but it may be a while before we have a proper chance to update xx

Thom's poorly :(

thom_kat is really sick and it isn't even due to over-indulgence. He's been puking since Sunday but he's feeling a bit better now. I've been staying home and playing nurse for him (although I really need a cute little uniform). This guy who was chatting me up at the weekend apparently took it REALLY seriously! I told him at the time that I wasn't interested but he found out who I was and managed to get my e-mail off my livejournal and now he keeps sending me all these e-mails about how I led him on. Apparently, even though I didn't say or do anything to make him think I fancied him, there was some "non-verbal" communication going on. I only spoke to him for about 5 minutes so he's clearly a crazy freaky stalker! Watch out for this guy http://witches.meetup.com/1229/members/2579309/ (Shaun the organiser - the little picture on the left).

In other news, while Thom has been ill, we've started watching the "Ghost in the Shell" series. So far we've just started watching the episodes after section nine has been restarted. I'm totally hooked. He thinks the Tachikoma are annoying but I think they're super cute! ^_^

Finally an update!

I have absolutely nothing more to say about my time in Birmingham that thom_kat hasn't already posted in his journal (it would probably have made more sense to share a journal really as we mainly do the same things all the time and neither of us remember to post much!).

Last night I went to the Dev and I was only planning to see a couple of people but next thing I know it's closing time! A bunch of us (7) squashed into a taxi and went to B-movie where one of my friends managed to spill his drink ALL over me! Unfortunately, we thought that B-movie closed at three but then at 2am they started telling us to drink it up so it was barely worth going atall!

Everyone I know seems to be breaking up with their girlfriend or boyfriend at the moment. Last night I heard many tragic tales of woe! I can't believe I'm awake so early but Allan's working today and as I live in their living room I tend to get woken up when people are in the kitchen.

Last night was something of a fiasco! Thom's ex had agreed to go on a date with him (now that they've stopped fighting and calling each other childish names) but incase there was a tense atmosphere between them and they ended up fighting again, I agreed to make it a double date and Modszer (the ex) was to bring a hetero male friend.

Basically, we'd booked a table at "Arizona" in Camden (mainly because they do fab cocktails) but just as we were leaving the house (after spending ages getting ready) we got a phone call from Modszer saying that he'd changed his mind. Thom was gutted and more childish name calling ensued.

In the end we stayed up all night. He wanted to watch angry boy films so we watched "Snatch", "Lock stock and two smoking barrels" and "Revolver" (which I'd heard was crap but I really enjoyed it - although that could have been because I was very drunk). I managed to pursuade him that "Ichi the Killer" was in the same genre of films so we watched that too (not the anime version). I'd forgotten how great that film is!

I miraculously don't have a hangover today so I'm finally getting out of the house this evening to go ouiji boarding (it sounds like a sport when I put it like that!) which I haven't done before.

I have new shoes! They're cute but quite sensible because I bought them for job hunting. I tried them out today by wearing them round the house and to the shops and they have given me blisters and painy bits! Do all sensible shoes do this? Whenever I buy new clubbing/shopping boots/shoes they're usually pretty comfy straight away.

I forgot to mention, I finished watching "Full Metal Alchemist" series this weekend and then watched the film. I have rated the whole thing as my favourite anime experience ever. Again! Again!

I just watched the first few episodes of "Saikano" that thom_kat's friend brought round for us. I'm not sure what I think of it really. It reminds me too much of awkward relationships I've had - and I'm not even a killing machine! (honest!). It's difficult to tell if it's going to improve unless you know how long the series is. I don't think I could cope with 50 episodes of the two main characters whingeing.

I felt kind of similar about The Twelve Kingdoms - although I liked that one straight away - at first it didn't really seem to be going anywhere and then it got really good but once Yoko finally beaome Queen of Kei she became an annoying wuss for several episodes and I stopped watching it. I'm sure it all ended well eventually. My favourite character was Keiki mmmmmmmmmm.............

My friend has started a new journal thom_kat and I'm really glad because now I can talk about him online but he can't complain because he can post his version as well........ he's not as dodgy as he sounds from his profile so add him. He'll probably just gossip about me and complain about me using his computer all the time!

Too hot !!!!

mood: hot hot

It's way too hot to do ANYTHING! I've been sleeping all the time like I'm hibernating or something. The heat is giving me really weird dreams and they feel really realistic so I'm really confused when I wake up. I haven't had anything to post on LJ because I've been literally doing nothing. I've mainly been lying on the sofa with the fan on and playing "Final Fantasy IX" (again!). I'll post again when my brain stops melting.....

mood: hungover! hungover!

I saw the new "Pirates of the carribean" movie on Thursday and it was really good. I wasn't impressed at first but then it was really funny and next thing I knew I was really enjoying myself. It was VERY obvious towards the end that there'll be another film.

I got FAR too drunk last night! I went to the Devonshire Arms for a quiet drink in the afternoon to celebrate my friend's birthday but then I saw a bunch of other friends while I was in there and it was Steve's birthday as well so I ended up going back to his with a bunch of people for a party. His new flat is really nice but his living room was FAR too small for his many friends. I was so drunk that I nearly fell asleep but Steve very kindly paid for me to get a taxi home. I owe him a huge favour now because I didn't even get him a birthday gift because I'd forgotten it was his birthday!

I remember babbling to a lot of strangers last night and trying to convince everyone they should watch the "Full Metal Alchemist" series. I've been watching it for weeks now and I'm still REALLY enjoying it but it does seem like a neverending story. I've still got the film to watch after the series as well! :)

My neighbor

Last night I watched another REALLY super cute Ghibli movie "My Neighbor Totoro" which I really enjoyed. My favourite part was the cat bus with all the legs. Thom who I'm staying with can burp just like the totoro! There were lots of little things that reminded me of "Spirited Away" but of course this film came first.

Recent anime

mood: tired tired

I watched "Princess Mononoke" last night and it was like nothing I'd seen before. Previously I've only seen the Ghibli Studio films for kids and there was a marked difference. Mainly that a lot of people were dismembered and decapitated! My favourite bits were in the forest. I really liked the artwork and all the cute little spirits that followed them round. In fact I really loved ALL the scenes in the forest and they're tumbling through my head now that I'm remembering them.

I'm still watching "Full Metal Alchemist" and at the moment it's one of my favourite series. It seemed like it was coming to a conclusion when they found out how the Philosopher's stone was made but there's still lots more. Unfortunately we've run out of disks to burn it onto so it may be a while before I can see any more.

I also rewatched "Perfect Blue" last night. I haven't seen it in ages so it was just as confusing and disorienting as the first time I saw it. I think I need to go shopping on ebay again before I run out of films......

Boom goes the Boombar!

We had very tasty tapas at "La Bota" in Crouch End and I ate FAR too much! There was only time to watch "Kiki's delivery service" and two episodes of "Full Metal Alchemist" when I got back before I was too knackered and now I'm going to bed. On the way past the Boombar I noticed that it has now completely gone and seems to have been replaced by a massage parlor which is a complete tragedy!!

More Manga and Anime!

Jul. 2nd, 2006 | 02:49 pm
mood: Yay Anime!

I'm definitely going through some kind of phase. I spent pretty much the whole week watching films and series' that I've borrowed, bought or downloaded. The weirdest one recently has been "Dead Leaves" which is from the same producers as "Ghost in the Shell" but it couldn't be more different!

The cover of the DVD boasts that they used 18,000 different colours and it was entirely hand drawn (no computer graphics atall). There are some really bizarre characters in it which have clearly been in-visioned by an extremely warped mind. There's non-stop action all the way through which can be disorientating but cool and there are some really funny bits and LOTS of confusing bits. I really like the ending. I don't know if it's one I'd recommend. I'd definitely watch it again though because I think a single viewing doesn't do it justice.

I am completely insatiable at the moment! I'm still watching "Lain" but also "Noir" and a whole bunch of other things in-dispersed with films but I'd be really pleased if anyone could suggest one of their favourite Anime films which I haven't seen.

mood: Yay! Packages! Yay! Packages!

I seem to be slightly addicted to internet shopping. I've gone a bit mad buying loads of anime (which I'll review when they arrive). It's mainly things from Ghibli Studio - I've seen "Spirited away", "The cat returns" and "Howl's moving castle" and I want to see MORE! I also saw the one about the castle in the air but I can't remember what it's called. The best thing about ordering stuff from the internet is that when you get home and there's loads of packages for you it feels like your birthday!
